Dam no! This movie is schist!
By Peter Johnson Movie Hater
The movie is ridiculously inaccurate to the books. The characters traits, the plot, and the entire feeling is terrible and different from the book. The main goal of Percy and Annabeth is literally to have sex, and this is for KIDS! Grover’s character is different, the age, Grover’s personality, all of them and much more were terrible mistakes. AND PERSEPHONE WAS LITERALLY IN THE UNDERWORLD IN SUMMER!!! Even if you didn’t read the books, the movie’s plot is obvious and terrible, and the effects look very fake as well. I would rate this movie 0 stars if I could.
Don’t Even Bother Watching It
This is the WORST book to movie adaption ever. They are middle schoolers in the first book, but in the movie they are portrayed as 17 year olds! Annabeth was BLONDE and had BLUE eyes in the books! You hear not one person mention Thalia or Clarisse in the movie, Persephone’s Pearls we’re mentioned very briefly in the books and yet the entire movie seems to revolve around them! Like I said before, don’t even bother watching it if you’ve read the books.
So my friend and I are huge fans of Percy Jackson. The books were amazing but after we watched the movies, we felt dead on the inside.
The directer totally changed up the plot, the characters, and took out the most important stuff from the book and just, WHY.
One: The characters
Annabeth: In the book, she has blonde curly hair and grey eyes, in the movie she has straight brown hair and blue eyes... What happend? Shes not supposed to be the best fighter at camp, Luke is. And her whole character is basically her and Clarisse into one person. BTW shes supposed to have a dagger and an invisibility cap.
Hades: He does NOT look like that, especially his hair. And he's not supposed to be the evil guy.
Grover: He's the best actor in the whole movie, even though he doesn’t look like his character and he's not supposed to be crazy for attractive girls.
Persephone: Cool character, but she was not in the book.
Medusa: She’s supposed to be an elderly woman whos wears a veil instead of sunglasses.
BTW wheres Clarisse? Ares? Dionysis? and the Stoll twins?
AND WHY ARE THEY 16? THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE 12!
Two: The setting
A) Im pretty sure the Underworld doesnt look like that
B) Why do the cabins look like that?
C) Why does the big house have no walls? Plus its the 'big house' not the small house.
Three: The plot
A) Persephone's pearls weren’t the 'main thing' in the book.
B) Percy Jackson is supposed to receive the quest and choose two friends to come along with him.
C) Capture the flag is all wrong. Its like the Hunger Games but with no knowledge or death.
D) Where is the scene with the Arch? Its a really important part in the book.
E) Why are there some inappropriate moments?
F) Why are they in a casino? You have to be above 18 to go in.
G) And why do people call Percy "Perse"?
That makes no sense!
Why did they not follow the story and change everything?! The book was amazing and well written.
This movie deserves a remake!
😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬⚡️🌊🌑🌕🌲🗡🔱 one of the worst book adaptations
Books are Better
I am a Percy Jackson fan, so when I saw this I was all excited to see a great book series on TV. Unfortunately, they scrapped almost everything from the books except the main plot. If you are a fan of the books than DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
There are a lot of errors
A shield in the first book? No, he gets it at the end of the second book. A quest to get pearls? No, a water spirit gives them to Percy and the quest is to return the bolt and stop the war. No mention of Ares or Clarisse, who played big parts throughout the series. If you’ve read the books, do yourself a favor and don’t watch this. It’s so freakin’ bad.
DO NOT BUY, YOU WILL REGRET IT (READ ALL)

This movie is atrocious, there’s no debating it. First let’s start with the characters: Rick Riordan, (the author incase you’re unaware), continuously emphasized that Anabeth had curly blonde hair, and GREY eyes, that of all things was emphasized. The Anabeth in this movie had straight dark brown hair and blue eyes! Not to mention she was WAY to soft for Anabeth, WAY too caring. Then Percy, okay fine, you know what I can put up with the brown hair but he was such a jerk in this movie, this was not the sweet Percy that is in the books. No, that Percy was a whole new character. Then Grover, come on people he’s supposed to be shy, quiet, and scared easily this Grover was the life of the party. Then Sally, really? She’s supposed to be emotional, understanding and sweet, the sally in this movie was uncaring, dull, and stressed.
Okay as if that wasn’t messed up enough you get into the quest, their quest in this movie is to find Persephone’s pearls. W.R.O.N.G, have you read Percy Jackson? (Also the pearls are Poseidon's) There quest is to return the lighting blot from Hades to stop a war between the gods (they don’t know hades doesn’t have the bolt though). Gosh, I mean the whole quest was so messed up and that entire part of the movie was so wrong and different from the book. Then they get to the underworld, ok hopefully this is good but then they just walk right up to Hades and Persephone, oh come on it should never be that easy. And then why was Persephone even there? She shouldn’t be, she’s not even a big character at all, but in this movie she was a rather important character. Then they exclude the main villain Kronos, nope we’re making the main villain Luke, well if you want to base a movie off a book you have to follow the story line. This did not do that, they also excluded, Ares, another main villain I mean ugh.
Overall this was painful, depressing and unsettling to watch. This isn’t worth a penny and you should go read the book because if you’ve only seen the movies, then you don’t know anything about Percy Jackson. It’s awful and I was really disappointed to see what could have been an exciting and interesting movie become this...
Bad movie in general, besides plot changes
Yes, I have read the books. Yes, I understand that when making a movie based on a book you often need to change things. But this movie is all around bad. Just looking at the film itself and not caring about what they changed, it was a bad movie. No plot build up, low quality acting, cheesy sets and costumes, not much character development or depth, poorly done fight scenes, and bad special effects. Now about the book to movie changes. This movie completely changed around the plot. And it wasn’t for the better. I mean come on the least you can do is find a blonde for annabeth. And the movie just felt like it was very fast paced and there wasn’t much time to process everything. All and all, you would need to tie me to a chair to watch this again.
BEST THING THAT WILL HAPPEN TODAY!
By Percy Jackson Lover! ;)
This is the best movie! It is my favorite it actually made me live Greek mythology! By far 5 stars!!! PLEASE WATCH IF YOU HAVE NOT YOU WONT REGRET IT!!! 😁😉
I'm rather disgusted
How sad is it that, unlike Harry Potter, the movies based off of Percy Jackson retained none of the charm and quality of the books? First of all, why were those actors chosen? They look nothing like the characters. Alright, I can stand Percy Jackson having brown hair and blue eyes (like Daniel Radcliffe), but Annabeth was supposed to have iconic blonde hair and GREY eyes. Always GREY. Like her mother, Athena. Oh, and BLONDE. Also, WHY were they all 16, NOT 12? They were SIXTH graders!
Additionally, Sally Jackson did not have enough emotion. She seemed bland and uncaring, which is the polar opposite of her character.
The movie producers clearly wanted to make the movie original, different from the book. If you make a movie based off of a book, it's PERFECTLY fine to change some details, every movie does that anyway, but you should retain the key points of the book. They took this film in a COMPLETELY different direction. They failed to introduce important characters, such as Clarisse, Ares, Dionysus, and the main villian of the series, Kronos. Now THAT is sad. It didn't have HALF of the scenes in the book—which is a real pity, as those were written well. The whole quest is to find Persephone's Pearls. Why? I don't know why, because first of all, in the book there was no such thing. They had PEARLS, but those were Poseidon's. Also, Percy only finds out about them half-way through the book. Persephone was not a big character in the book. (SPOILER ALERT!!!) In the movie, she for some reason turns on Hades, her husband, and saves Percy, Annabeth, and Grover from like two or three monsters—terrifying, I know! Whereas in the book, they face a whole UNDEAD ARMY.
To be fair, they did do some scenes well. The Lotus Casino
was pretty good. The Medusa scene was true to the book and done well. Despite them using an iPhone in the movie, not a glass ornament, I liked it because that was a creative change, not one that messed up the whole plot line. If you REALLY want to invent a whole different storyline, MAKE AN ORIGINAL MOVIE PLEASE. This movie was a disappointment.
