The history of the Scottish civil war. Met someone from Scotland that told me the truth about what happened. No screaming freedom. Wallace actually Died on the battlefield. But you have to take a bit of drama and mix it into the award winning film. Always love this film.

Excellent movie. Sure it’s taken some historical liberties but most movies do and it shouldn’t be judged on that. Mel is compelling and charismatic. The battle scenes are heart-stopping.

This movie is the templste by whixg Gladiator is formed. Wife murdered as inciting event/ check. Rebellion agsinst the might of an empire, check 2. Gladiator is Braveheart but without the great acting and better emotional theoughline.

I saw this five time on the big screen. When I heard you could rent it on VHS, I was first in line to rent it, over and over again. When it available to buy on DVD, I cherished it like my best friend. Some quotes: "you should have remembered the rocks" "some men are bigger then others" "my hate...dies with you" "FREEEEDOM" "I didn't like him anyway...he wasn't right in the head" And the battle scenes, Longshanks vs Wallace, snobbish entitlement vs humble human beings. As the years go by, this film will stand the test of time. An incredible classic.

Braveheart is one of my favorite films, I’ve watched it countless times just to see my favorite scenes. My only complaint is that The actor playing William Wallace is shorter than real life.

A good reminder that the UK is made of England and Scotland (and Wales and Northern Ireland) and that centuries later, Independence still looms in this Union... This movie helps understand in the 21st Century that Scotland may want to secede from the UK and remain in the European Union, together with Sophie Marceau... This movie is otherwise masterfully directed by Mel Gibson - in the smallest details. A moving love and patriotic story that echoes in this millennium.
