  • Suspenseful with unexpected twist

I started the movie with basic expectations of a type of paranormal time warp thriller. I don’t want to spoil it, but it’s well made and you’ll be guessing until the end what the story is. It’s also a clever reminder woven in of the injustice from the old days reaching well into the today.

Not sure what was the point of this movie. Little all over the place. Came in thinking horror film. Not so.
  • Interesting story plot

I've seen so many bad reviews for this movie, but its actually a good watch. I saw this movie with the idea of it being sinister, rather than comparing it to "if it applies in real life" which I doubt it. Its very entertaining if you don't get caught up on real experience.
  • Awesome Movie

Reader see this movie and judge for yourself. What you think and/or how you feel about it afterwards is a reflection of what is going on inside of you whether it be good or bad by general opinion.
  • Great movie

Must watch. I would sum this movie as a new take on the horror genre. What sets this movie apart is that there are no movies like it before. I look forward to more horror that challenge the norms, and push social boundaries. Ignore all the reviews that complain about the content of this movie. If it touched a nerve, made you feel uncomfortable and offended need to step out of your comfort zone, outside yourself and realize... you’re part of the problem.
  • Interesting concept; an okay script.

While slavery is completely horrific; this film is not a horror film. More of a suspenseful drama if anything. For the first 25 minutes of the film you’re sort of left wondering what the correlation of modern day and the past is, but it pays off. The character development and reveal of the twist is great. Then the climax comes and you’re sort of left asking, “that was it?” It’s not that it didn’t end the way I wanted; it’s that these enemies seemed a little too easy to pick off. Our lead actress gave us a front flip over a sleeping confederate, but had little actual combat with anyone. I was just left wanting more. I am, however, a picky movie watcher. It’s a wonderfully shot and acted film. And if you enjoy the Village or Django then you’ll appreciate this one.
  • The hate in these comments is astounding.

I thought the movie was pretty decent. It’s the racist trumpies that don’t have the mental capacity to empathize or understand what’s going on that are writing all of the bad reviews

Not sure about these kind of movies and personally believe it must attract a certain kind of audience. But in any case it’s more Hollywood garbage. Maybe movie ideas are running out and this is what the movie industry thinks is entertainment. One Star!
  • Phenomenal

Beautiful and fragile. An amazing piece through and in history possibly. Never again will we repeat that error in our history. God bless the black community and how strong it is (and has been). Be kind to all, that’s what I believe. Slavery is a sad fact... let’s change that together in our modern times. This is how some would have it be... they are very wrong.
  • Entertaining and thought-provoking

If you’re a racist you will be offended by this movie. You won’t be able to handle it. This is an entertaining and thought-provoking movie with a great plot twist. I’d love to hear more about the directors’ approach and creative process.
