Description

Woody Allen returns to the romantic fields of previous hits Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Midnight in Paris, assembling an all-star cast also including Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Jude Law, Diego Luna and Liev Schreiber, for a charming, sizzling and comedic tale set amidst the fast-paced dizzying streets of The Big Apple. A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK tells the story of college sweethearts, Gatsby (Chalamet) and Ashleigh (Fanning), whose plans for a romantic weekend together in New York City are dashed as quickly as the sunlight turns into showers. The two are soon parted, and through a series of chance meetings and comical adventures they will discover that, while you only live once, once is enough if you find the right person.

  • One of Allen's worst

I was a fan of Woody's films, but this one unfortunately is one of his worst, if not the worst. The dialogue was stilted, the plot was at times predictable, and overall, it just wasn't very funny. I can't recommend it, except perhaps to a completionist... who doesn't need a recommendation anyway.

This is like as if Woody Allen puts on hoodies and sneakers. Spoiled, privileged, a little overacted and clearly written by someone who never actually talked to the “kids” these days. It feels odd like seeing characters from the 70s annexed into modern-day NYC. Overall it’s a mostly harmless flick for a pandemic night at $0.99 rental.
  • Woody Allen is entertaining as usual

This movie is actually pretty good, despite Allen’s recent slump in creativity. It has all the typical Woody Allen tropes, but it still makes for a decent flick. The story is good, and the situations the characters find themselves in are funny and amusing. Check this out if you like his movies! It really is a shame this movie was shelved because of allegations against WA, which I take with a grain of salt. People including the actors gave their time and energy in making this movie, so really the distributors hurt no just WA, but everyone else involved.

It was good and has a great cast. At moments it was a bit odd however it was cool to see a movie with Timothee, Selena, and Elle.
  • That was stupid

Big fan of Woody but this movie wasn’t that good. It’s like if you gave a film student a low budget and asked them to make a woody Allen movie. Over acted and simply not a good film overall. Save yourself some time and watch midnight in Paris instead.

Another great movie from Woody, his iconic style and witty script is all over the movie. The soundtrack, cinematography and camera shots are beautiful, setting you in a classic movie that makes you love this city even more. Casting the millennials was a fresh approach with the young cast that gives you a refreshing feel to Woody's signature touch. Love it!
